Google Marketing Webhook
The Google Marketing Webhook connects Driftrock directly to your Google Lead Form Extensions, delivering leads from Google Search, Display, Video, and Performance Max campaigns into your CRM in real time. Setup requires no account-level connection to your Google Ads account, making it a fast and simple option for teams with data access restrictions.
What is the Google Marketing Webhook?
The Google Marketing Webhook is a secure URL and key pair that you paste into your Google Lead Form settings. When a customer submits a Google Lead Form, Google's systems send the lead data server-to-server to Driftrock in real time. Driftrock receives, validates, and routes the lead to your CRM within seconds.
Because the connection works via a webhook rather than an ad account integration, you do not need to grant Driftrock access to your Google Ads account. This makes it straightforward to set up and suitable for situations where sharing ad account credentials is not possible.
Why use the Google Marketing Webhook?
Google Lead Form Extensions allow customers to enquire directly within the search results page, without leaving Google. This significantly reduces form friction and typically lowers cost per lead compared to directing traffic to a website form. Combined with Driftrock's real-time routing, your sales team receives qualified leads within seconds of submission rather than waiting for manual CSV downloads.
The webhook also supports closed-loop measurement: you can send conversion signals (such as a test drive booked or a sale completed) back to Google Ads via Driftrock's Conversions API integrations, which helps Google's bidding algorithms optimise your campaigns for quality outcomes.
How it works
Driftrock generates a unique Webhook URL and Key for your account.
You paste these credentials into the Lead Delivery section of your Google Lead Form in Google Ads.
When a customer submits the form, Google sends the lead data to Driftrock's webhook endpoint.
Driftrock authenticates the request using the key, then runs the lead through validation, deduplication, and field mapping.
The processed lead is routed to your CRM according to your configured automations.
Getting started
Prerequisites: Admin access to your Driftrock account and access to your Google Ads campaign to edit the Lead Form Extension.
In Driftrock, go to the Capture Library and select Google Marketing Webhook.
Click Setup to create a new capture and copy the generated Webhook URL and Key.
In Google Ads, open the Lead Form Extension for your campaign.
Paste the Webhook URL and Key into the Lead Delivery fields.
Click Send Test Data in Google Ads to send a test lead to Driftrock.
In Driftrock, complete the capture build by mapping the incoming lead fields to your standard fields.
Connect your CRM in the Destinations step and confirm the test lead arrived and was routed correctly.
Activate the capture.
Tips for getting the most out of the Google Marketing Webhook
Use hidden static fields to automatically attach campaign-specific data (such as a vehicle model code or campaign ID) to every lead from a specific form, so your CRM receives enriched data without the customer needing to provide it. Add a Conversions API Destination to send offline conversion signals back to Google Ads and improve campaign optimisation.
